If Not This, Then Something Better

Listen to this episode

How do I feel more grateful and abundant instead of always chasing the next thing?

What This Episode Is About

Recorded from her car on a Memorial Day weekend drive through the mountains, Amy makes the case that the deepest joy comes from slowing down and noticing what is already yours. She invites you to feel real gratitude in your body, to let your heart fill past capacity, and to hold a single phrase the next time life is not going your way: if not this, then something better. Living from an open, abundant heart is what makes that something better actually available to you.

The more that you focus on what you have, the more that you focus on the good, the more good will come.

What You'll Hear

  • Why busy, busy, busy keeps you from feeling the blessings already around you
  • How your heart has more capacity to love, to be grateful, and to connect than you are using right now
  • The difference between chasing material things and noticing the little things that make life rich
  • The simple question to ask whenever something is not working: if not this, then something better
  • How focusing on the good actually breeds more good in your life

Recorded on a Memorial Day drive through the Utah mountains, this episode is a meditation on gratitude, sacrifice, and what becomes possible when you stop running long enough to notice your life. Between reflections on personal loss and the people whose decisions made your comforts possible, you’ll hear a challenge: your heart has more room than you’re using. And when the deal falls through, the relationship ends, or the door closes, you’ll have five words to carry with you — if not this, then something better. What You’ll Hear The retreat announcement — a Park City, Utah gathering coming in the next few months, and who it’s for The cost of "busy, busy, busy" — what you stop seeing when you stop slowing down, from blooming flowers to the people who built the life you’re standing on Your heart isn’t a fixed container — the case that your capacity to love and connect is exponential, not finite Abundance is a posture, not a prize — why worthiness and openness are the prerequisites, and how gratitude for what’s already here pulls more toward you "If not this, then something better" — the mantra at the center…

"If not this, then something better is always available to you."

Your Invitation

Take one quiet moment today to reflect on the little things you have stopped noticing, and the next time something is not working, say to yourself, if not this, then something better, and keep your heart open for it.

When you are ready to see your own patterns clearly and move differently, the Mirror is where that work begins.

Questions This Episode Answers

What does if not this, then something better mean?
It means that when you do not like what is happening, you can trust that something better is always available to you. The key is staying open and abundant so that you can actually receive it.
Why does Amy say to slow down and notice the little things?
Because the deeper joys come from the people in your life, the beauty around you, and the blessings you already have, not from the material things. When you are rushing and busy all the time, you miss what makes life feel full.
How does gratitude bring more good into your life?
The more you focus on what you have and on the good, the more good will come. Gratitude and connection open your heart, and an open, abundant heart is what lets more flow in.
Can I really feel abundant even when life is hard?
Yes. There will always be hard days and ups and downs, but there are always things that are abundant in your life no matter what you are going through. You can feel that abundance every single day if you look for it.

Those are the things that make life feel full. Welcome to the Unblocked Woman podcast. I'm Amy Sanders. For years, I believed the next level of my life, the business, would come from a better strategy, working harder, figuring out that perfect plan.

But eventually, I saw the real truth. The biggest ceiling in our lives is not strategy, it's identity. The patterns we don't see, the subtle ways we play small, the version of ourselves that we keep defaulting back to even when we know we're capable of more. This podcast is where we bring those patterns in.

We talk about identity, leadership, growth, and what it actually takes to become the woman who can truly hold the life and business she wants. No fluff, no performance, just honest conversation about stepping fully into your power. So go ahead and subscribe and follow the show. And remember, the moment you see the pattern, you can finally break it.

Hello. So this podcast is going to be a little bit different than most because I am, essentially talking to you into my phone while I am driving home in the most beautiful place. So it hasn't been really put out there yet, but I'm putting out there right now that my friend and I are putting on this retreat and it is going to be in the beautiful mountains of Park City. And it's going to be in a few months and there's more to come regarding the retreat.

It's going to be life-changing. I cannot wait. We have so many incredible things happening and coming, but that's not what this podcast is about. What this podcast is about is as I have been just driving through the mountains filled with all of the beauty and celebrating Memorial Day weekend, which is this weekend, I have so much gratitude in my heart for our country, for the men that went before us and fought for our freedom.

And that died. I also have so much gratitude for my family and my sister who also has passed on. And so there's like a lot of reflection that I'm doing today as I'm driving, but there's also so much gratitude as I see the beauty all around me. And for those of you guys who don't know, I live in Utah and I live just about 45 minutes away from Park City, where we will be holding this retreat.

And I'm going to be doing a lot of research and I'm going to be doing a lot of but I live eight minutes away from an incredible Canyon. That's also just breathtaking and beautiful. And as I was taking some videos and getting things ready for this retreat, I was looking at the beauty June and may are by far my favorite months in Utah, but the beauty of God's creation and how feeling connected to God's creations and taking enough time to breathe and not being busy, busy, busy all of the time, doing all of the things and rushing, but just taking the time to realize how blessed we are. And as I say this, I know that I am so incredibly blessed, so incredibly blessed more than a lot of people around the world.

I was born in an incredible country. I live a lifestyle that is really comfortable. I am, you know, I live in a beautiful city. I have all of this because of my ancestors, because of the people that came before me, because of the choices that not just that I have made in my life and that my husband has made in our lives together, but also the people before me and the decisions that they made.

That my ancestors decided to come to Utah, not Utah, but to America. That my parents decided to move to Utah and live here to raise a family. And I know my thoughts are kind of sporadic right now, but my point is, do you take enough time to slow down, even when you're doing quote, quote, stuff? Do you take enough time to slow down and enjoy your blessings?

Do you take enough time to feel the deep gratitude from your heart, where your heart fills open when you're fart? Your heart, excuse me, when your heart fills full, almost as if it's like overflowing of capacity, like it has so much capacity, because it does. Your heart has enough capacity to love even more people than you currently love right now. It has more capacity to be even more grateful for everything in your life than it currently does right now.

Your heart has more capacity to connect at deeper levels than it has right now. It's like an ongoing thing. It can be exponential. So are you taking the time to notice the little things, the little flowers that are blooming right now?

The people that are being celebrated this weekend because of them going on before us and passing on. The home that you live in, the life that you live, the family that you have. And I understand that as I'm saying this, life is not going to be the same as it used to be. Life is not perfect.

And I'm sure a lot of you are going through a lot of hard things. But know this, that you do have much more than you probably realize. And when you focus on that, when you focus on the more, when you focus on the abundance of even the little things, the flowers in your backyard, the neighbors that you have a relationship with, the mountains. For me, this week, it's the mountains that I'm able to drive through, and they are green, and they are beautiful, and they are humming just full of life of wildflowers and beauty.

Those are the things that make life rich. Those are the things that make life feel full. The connections that you have, the gratitude that you express and feel in your heart, all of those things bring more into your life. A lot of times we focus on the material things so much that we forget what's ours.

And we forget what's ours. And we forget that the material things can make life easier. And I do love the material things that I have. But the deeper joys come from noticing the little things, the people in your life, the beauty around you, the blessings that you have, just because you are.

I just want you to stop and reflect today. Reflect on maybe things you haven't reflected on for a while and see what comes up for you. See how it feels. Take a quiet moment.

It doesn't have to be long. And see what comes up. And when you do that, I also want you to take one step deeper and ask yourself this question. Life, we always want more, right?

That's like part of life. Part of life is wanting to grow in abundance. It's wanting to become the next version of yourself. This whole podcast is about leveling up.

This whole podcast is identity level work. This whole podcast is about becoming her. But what I want you to do today is wherever you're at in your life, the things that maybe you're not loving, the things that you actually do love, I want you to ask the question, if not this, then something better. And the reason why I want you to ask yourself that question is because when you're living into abundance, when you are keeping your heart open, when you are being aware of the beauty around you, when you are being aware of the connectedness that you have in life with different people, and different things, you can literally say, if not this, something better.

When you don't like what's happening, you can say, if not this, something better. And what I mean by that is that something better is available to you always. It's available to you always. However, the key is that you are going to be able to achieve even more.

You're going to be able to get that something better by living into abundance. And that's what I want you to do today. Every single day, by letting your cup overflow, by noticing all the little things that are working in your life. And as you're noticing all of the things that are working in your life, and you're letting go of the things that aren't working in your life, more things are going to work in your life.

If there is a business that maybe your business isn't going as well as you wanted, or maybe your work's not going as well as you wanted, your relationships aren't, you're never stuck. So if not this, then something better. And that's why I want you to ask the question, if not this, there is something better coming for you. Especially if you are focused on the good, you are focused on the now, you're focused on all of the good things that are available to you, and that are coming available to you.

Because when it comes to abundance, and when it comes to God, he wants the best for us. And abundance is available to those people who are open and ready for it, and believe that he's going to be able to do it. And if you're not, then you're worthy of it. And abundance is something that you can feel every single day of your life.

And I would argue that you should feel it every single day of your life, because there are always things that are abundant in your life, no matter what you are going through. There will always be hard days, there will be ups and downs, you can count on that. But the more that you focus on what you have, the more that you focus on the good, the more good will come, you will breed more good. And that, my friends, is what I have for you today on the podcast.

It's short, it's sweet, it's to the point. Be grateful. Look for the good. And realize that where you are in your life right now, if it's not this, something is better that's coming for you.

I hope you liked this. Short little episode from my car. And I hope that you have had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend, and that you are experiencing all of the good things today with family, friends, celebrating, celebrating people that have moved on, passed on, passed this life, and giving them love too. And with that, I will be back here with another episode next week.

Take care. I love you all. Thanks for tuning in. If you liked this, make sure you subscribe and make sure that you share it with those who might be interested.
